Home Fellowships Making a Difference During Lockdown

With so much going on around the world, many things have come to a standstill. Churches closed, schools closed and people finding time to adopt to the new normal is something that everyone is trying to do and cope with.

Hope Alive! as an organization has gone through the phases of lockdown and many of our programs have come to a standstill. With all this, the mentors took it upon themselves to come up with a more efficient and safe measure to keep our students rooted in the word of God through discipleship and constant communication as it was going to be hard to have all our students available for the Saturday club programs which always constituted Bible study lessons, and discipleship sessions with the students. Following the formation of cell groups, our mentors are able to go to the homes of the different students where they gather in small numbers and have Bible study together.

They do this while observing the standard operating procedures given by the Ministry of Health, that is washing hands with soap and water, sanitizing, wearing a mask in all their gatherings and maintaining a social distance of 2 meters from each other.

Our Cell groups are comprised of (5) students and a mentor who facilitates the entire process. This helps us ensure that our children are safe and are observing the health guidelines given by the ministry of health.

We have so far created three cell groups where our students meet, we have a cell group that meet in Mutungo and this is facilitated by our mentor, Bukusuba Denis who oversees activities at the cell, while the Naguru Cell is facilitated by our mentor, Adiru Hope , both the mentors oversee the activities being under taken by the different cell groups. While we spread the gospel to our students across Kampala, our mentor, Joseph Kasita, oversees the cell activities in Wakiso.

We are currently looking at the fruits of the Holy Spirit in Galatians chapter 5.

Through this the students are able to share their own views about the scripture because we make the bible studies more of interactive than having one person share their own opinion. This has helped us ensure that the students not only read the bible but are able to memorize it.
