A Father's Heart Awakened

When families grow stronger, children thrive. That’s why the Kyabakuza site recently hosted a positive parenting seminar for caregivers. Led by Kizito Patrick, head of the family department at Scripture Union Uganda, the seminar drew a large crowd and deeply touched everyone present — including Hope Alive! mentors and staff.

Because Hope Alive!’s goal is to care for children right where they live, in the context of their family and community,  Hope Alive! offers regular training sessions for caregivers and parents. During one of these sessions, a father named Nicholas shared how the seminar had changed him.

“I thought providing food was enough,” he admitted. “My children feared me. I didn’t have any relationship with them. But now I know my children need me to guide them, to show up, to love them with my presence. As a father, I was challenged to step up, start visiting them at school, and lead by example. Now I’ve created time to spend with them. I also know my role as a father.”

Praise God for this kind of transformation!  We’re seeing softened hearts among students’ caregivers, intentional parenting, stronger homes, and happier children. As fathers and mothers grow in Christ and embrace their calling, the future grows brighter for entire communities.
