Kasita Joseph
Growing up in a family of eight children with a single mother, Joseph didn’t have an easy life. He did not even have the chance to see his father, who died when Joseph was a baby.
After the death of his father, life became so hard for the family. “We didn’t have any hope for school. I struggled with school as I was constantly chased back home due to lack of school fees. I felt all my dreams being shattered and broken into pieces. I lost all hope of ever attaining an education. I remember asking myself if God truly exists,” recalls Joseph.
However, in 2008 Joseph and his brother, Andrew joined Hope Alive!. This marked the beginning of transformation in his life. His school fees and all scholastics needs were taken care of. Joseph notes that biggest change came when he got know more about Jesus Christ at Hope Alive!
He says he got new brothers and sisters at Hope Alive!. For a child who never saw his father, the mentoring program gave him a father figures. Which has made all the difference in his life. Joseph later joined the Hope Alive! student leadership team where he is currently serving as the vice chairperson. He is a distinguished role model for other students, whole tirelessly demonstrates servant leadership with humility and gratitude.
In August Joseph will begin his certificate in Social Work and Social Administration. His ultimate goal is to study law and become a judge. His passion is use the law to ensure that justice is served. He strongly feels that people in authority in Uganda are abusing their power to oppress others. He wants to upset the status quo by eventually become an honest judge.
Today Joseph’s story is one of total transformation. He is grateful for the far he has come. He says, “I will cling on to my dream and promise never to be a disappointment to Hope Alive and my family. I am who I am because of Hope Alive!. Words cannot really express how I feel. But the God who sees and hears the unsaid, knows how grateful I am. May the Almighty God bless the works of your Hands.”
