Mentor Winnie and Mini-Winny
Sometimes God's timing is so precise it takes your breath away.
Mentor Winnie has poured years of faithful service into our Koro site, helping train school staff on the mobile libraries and walking alongside students and families. This year, she transitioned to our new Koch Lii site, bringing that same heart with her.
Among the newly enrolled students, there is a young girl also named Winny. To keep things straight, we call her mini-Winny. But there is nothing small about her story.
Mini-Winny's life has not been easy. In January, she was among the students who participated in our I Choose You program, and she chose a sponsor from Texas. None of us knew then what the months ahead would hold.
Mini-Winny's mother was ill and declining. In February, mentor Winnie visited the family, sat with her mother, and shared the gospel. That day, her mother placed her faith in Jesus.

In March, the pastor of mini-Winny's sponsor's church traveled to Uganda with his wife. They made a special trip to her home and brought a gift from her sponsor. When they arrived, mini-Winny's mother was on her deathbed, her body failing. It was a sacred and heartbreaking visit. That day, mini-Winny and her brothers also professed their faith in Jesus.
Her mother passed away the following night.
The grief is real. The loss is heavy. But so is the hope. This family, in their darkest moment, was not alone and will not face eternity alone either.
We give praise for God's beautiful, providential timing and for this family who put their faith in Him. Without mini-Winny's sponsorship, without mentor Winnie's faithful presence at Koch Lii, this family may never have been visited. They may never have heard the gospel. The Lord knew what they needed. He always does.
