Nakalembe’s Story: Grit to Provide for Her Family Amidst Grief
Nakalembe Resty's life changed forever in February when her husband and daughter passed away. She was left to care for her seven remaining children alone.
Overwhelmed, she found herself struggling to put food on the table. She had a formidable time finding a job until Hope Alive! mentors and staff pooled their own money to help her start her own business. She now sells onions, tomatoes and small fish, and uses her earnings to buy posho (cornmeal) for her family.
She says, "Thank you Hope Alive! for not only standing with me in the trying situation but also supporting me in starting up a small business where I can now earn income and feed my children. Thank you for putting a smile on my face again."
