Our Superhero!
During the challenging times of the pandemic, Laker Scovia, a primary school teacher, dedicated her time to Hope Alive! students. Ms. Scovia braved the strenuous circumstances to bring education closer to our children who gathered at our different locations in Koro (Gulu) for remedial lessons. She taught phonics and has reported a great improvement in the number of students who can read and write. “I feel good when I see the students who couldn’t read now reading. This feels like a blessing to me. I am
so happy,” she said.
One of her students, Derrick, said, “I have learned how to read and I enjoy phonics classes. I also like the classes because I want to learn English very well. My English has improved from writing and reading and also speaking”.
We are grateful for all of our teachers, staff and mentors that are having a positive impact in the lives of our children.
