Books, Bags and Brighter Futures***Fully Funded!**

$14,000 Project Goal
$14,502 Amount Raised

$0 Still Needed

***Thanks be to God and our generous supporters! This project has been fully funded. Every student in Hope Alive!'s care will receive a backpack and three books of their choice for Christmas.****

Most children in Uganda have never personally owned a book. Their schools often lack books and resources, making it hard for children to develop the literacy skills necessary to engage in extensive learning. Consequently, more than half of the elementary-age students in Uganda lack the ability to read at their grade level. This negatively impacts their academic performance, not to mention makes it harder for them to study God’s word, rise above their circumstances, and prepare for a career.

At Hope Alive!, we are striving to
create a culture of readers and are working to improve our students’ literacy skills to help them grow as critical thinkers, lifelong learners, and followers of Jesus. That’s why, this Giving Tuesday, we are focused on getting books into the hands of our students! With regular access to books, they can discover the joy of reading and experience holistic growth.

Your support can make a tremendous impact! For every $30 given, we can supply a student with a backpack and three age-appropriate books. Because backpacks are seen as luxury items, most of our students do not have backpacks (called "book bags" in Uganda) of their own. We are excited to partner with local vendors to purchase books and bags, which, in turn, allows us to support their families, bless our students, and strengthen the local economy.

There is nothing like having your own books to cherish and read over and over.

Will you partner with us and give the gift of reading?
