Recheal is a lawyer!
Ampeire Mugarura Recheal was determined to honor her father’s legacy after he passed away when she was only ten. He had been a university graduate, and she was determined to follow in his footsteps.
Widowed in 2008, Recheal’s mom worked hard to make ends meet for the family, but the cost of school fees was a constant challenge. Then Hope Alive! stepped in. In 2009, Hope Alive!’s Masaka site enrolled Recheal, a turning point for her educational and spiritual growth. She recalls, “The spiritual guidance from our mentors and HA! family helped me to realize that God loves and cares for us; with this I came to know that God will never forsake me, and this helped me to keep on trusting Him and work hard in my education.”
Hope Alive!’s career guidance program prepared Recheal to navigate the educational hurdles ahead of her with confidence. She was determined to work diligently and achieve her dream of becoming a lawyer. After graduating from high school, she was ready to face the next big challenge: university.
Recheal’s hard work and high test scores in secondary school qualified her for university, but the cost posed a new financial hurdle. Thankfully, her sponsors, a generous couple who are long-time supporters of Hope Alive!, stepped forward to cover Recheal’s university and postgraduate expenses. Their support was pivotal in helping Recheal achieve her dreams.
After years of hard work, Recheal graduated in July from Kampala International University as a certified lawyer! She is eager to use her education, knowledge and skills to serve her family and community. Recheal encourages other students to work hard, remember their roots, and “believe in God and put their trust in Him for success in life.”
Recheal is deeply grateful to the Hope Alive! staff, mentors, and sponsors who supported her journey. She expresses heartfelt thanks to her “dear sponsors… for the financial support and prayers. [I] am now Counsel Recheal Mugarura because of your great support.” On her Facebook profile, Recheal paid beautiful tributes to her late father and her mother. To her mother, whom she calls her superhero, she writes, “I am so grateful for everything. Thank you for always having my back and being a prayerful woman.” She is overjoyed to have made her family proud.
In a special post, Recheal shared side-by-side graduation photos of herself and her father, saying, “I couldn’t wait to recreate this photo after so many years. Daddy, I made it. You took me to school, though you didn’t see me finish. You laid a foundation for me, and God did it for me. I completed the course, and I am a certified lawyer now, Daddy! I know you watched and smiled from heaven. I will forever carry on your name and follow in your footsteps.”
We are so proud of you, Recheal!
Recheal was able to complete university and law school for less than $9,000 total, drastically less than the average cost of $40,000 per year in the US. This significant difference shows just how far your educational investment can go in Uganda.
