The Hope Alive! Difference
The Whole Child - As Part of a Whole Family - For the Good of the Whole Community Through our distinctive, family-focused child sponsorship model, we address the educational, physical, social and spiritual needs of fragile families as we leverage the power of education and relationships to change lives forever.
Life-Changing Relationships
We invest our lives in students and their families on an individual basis, building long-term relationships centered in the life-changing love of Jesus Christ. We build these relationships through mentorship, Saturday Clubs and special events.Mentorship
Through our partnerships with local churches, we create lasting connections between students and their families and a mentor--a caring, mature Ugandan adult from the local community. Mentors are nurturing guides, respected voices of wisdom and trusted spiritual companions in the lives of fragile families.
Saturday Club
Each Hope Alive! site hosts three Saturday Clubs per month. Students, staff and mentors gather at our sites for a safe and meaningful time of worship, prayer, Bible study, community-building, fun, and a nutritious meal.
Community Training
Events at our sites gather students, families and alumni together to provide information and opportunities for personal and community development.
Community Savings Groups
We bring mentors, students, alumni and families together in groups where they encourage each other to save money, and then grant micro-loans to each other. These Community Savings Groups are creating small businesses, building homes, sending kids who are not sponsored by Hope Alive! to school, and much more to help break cycles of generational economic poverty.
Life-Changing Education
The vast majority of schools in Uganda are private, costly, and far beyond the ability of families living in poverty to afford. Sponsorship allows children to become students and families to find hope. Through sponsorship, we pay 100% of a student's tuition and many other academic necessities for as long as the student remains in the sponsorship program of Hope Alive!
Student Support
We provide sponsored students with needs-based tutoring, academic support and engaging educational opportunities. Students enrolled in Hope Alive! have often missed years of school, and are not in an appropriate grade level for their age. Student support helps students unearth their potential, increase their confidence and develop their academic abilities to enhance their in-school learning.School Support
We support families and communities by strengthening the capacities of educators and schools through training, special programs and access to educational resources. Our mobile library program is one such project that is providing students at four schools (over 1,200 students) with access to books, literacy instruction and activities, and teacher support.Scholarships
High-performing sponsored students may apply for a Hope Alive! scholarship to a university or other higher-cost, higher-level technical or vocational institution. Scholarships may be awarded as funding permits, at the conclusion of a student's time in Hope Alive!'s sponsorship program.
